So the idea is to pick your favorite tv shows, and name the character that you identify with most. Most, engaging, Justin- if I do say so myself. Here goes: Law and Order: yesterday, today, and tomorrow- I want to be Jack McCoy. Bones: Angela House: Dr. Wilson, I'm covertly devious. NCIS: Abby, duh. Mad Men: Joan Pushing Daisies: Chuck The Tudors: Margaret, the King's sister... until she bought the farm. Firefly: Inara... or Jayne. Sex and the City: usually Carrie, but I'm getting more Charlotte-y with age. Moonlight: Joseph Lie to Me: the "radical truth" guy... good show, btw. Scrubs: Carla new, awesome, quote from last week's House: "unless that poem ends with 'In order to fry my brain to death, I smoked some primo crystal meth' I'm not interested."

awards-season bliss has begun, unfortunately it happens to be coupled with new-semester irritation. alas. first, the bliss. I made some fantastic predictions for both the Golden Globes (which was just two hosts trying to be excited whilst reading off the winners from the teleprompter) and the SAG awards. Is it wrong to bet on "No Country for Old Men" even though I have never, nor have the desire to, view said movie? Eff the Coen brothers. I fucking hate Fargo. Except for that part with the wood-chipper, that was awesome. I have also managed to see a few more Oscar nominees (and a couple non-noms) recently. I highly recommend both Sweeney Todd and Atonement. Disclaimer: Sweeney Todd is the most gory movie I have ever seen in my life... no kidding. It is nearly difficult to watch some parts because of the arterial spray. Regardless, Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter are at their best and Alan Rickman is delightfully creepy. Also, do not go to Atonement if you're in the mood for a light-hearted, feel-good movie. You will cry. Do not say that I did not warn you. The soundtrack is going to win for best score, mark my words. In other news, I'm looking into buying a 1936 Royal-Brand typewriter. It looks fecking awesome. And now for the irritation. I'm taking 16 credits this semester, not too bad- but I will definitely stay busy. My abridged schedule is: French MWF- fuck french. hopefully I will get through this semester without dropping the class. again. Wisconsin History MWF- who knew that anyone cared enough to teach a class on that? Shakespeare I TTH- awesome. American Philosophy TTH- There are four of us in this class, and it is taught by a strange former-hippy-esque broad who loves to hear the sound of her own voice. In 90 minutes, she only paused once- and that was to take role. Ancient and Medieval Worlds TTH- taught by the ever-fantastic Sinclair, who describes being "drawn and quartered" with equal zeal that she professes her hate of "Braveheart"

To further this disturbing trend, I plan on assembling/decorating the christmas tree next wednesday. christ. do you think that I'm getting in the spirit a bit early? just be afraid, next I'll start buying egg nog. oh dear.

I like it when it gets cold here, because it makes me feel like I'm not dying. There is something utterly appealing to me about the shivvery undercurrent of one's body struggling to stay warm. This is something you can really only feel in the North, it never gets cold enough back home. and it is odd to me that something I always thought that I hated, is something that I do not wish to leave. the truly sad thing is that no matter where I live, someone feels abandoned. so what do I do? choose? to this day, there is only one person who could break my heart enough to get me to move back to the golden state. so what if I am more silver than gold.

I decided to not follow the rules, mainly because the last three are just pure gold... I love how "magician" is sandwiched in between "criminal lawyer" and "dancer". This was kind of screwed up for me because the test didn't really touch on my interests... 1. Go to http://www.careercruising.com/. 2. Put in Username: nycareers, Password: landmark. 3. Take their "Career Matchmaker" questions. 4. Post the top ten fifteen results. 1.Paralegal (eff that) 2.Judge (they spewed this out only because I admitted to enjoying giving unsolicited advice) 3.Translator (from what to what? I don't speak anything but valley girl.) 4.Civil Litigator (I don't even know what that does...) 5.Lawyer (I do have fantasies about being the next Jack McCoy) 6.Political Aide (when hell freezes over. I can barely tolerate my own bullshit) 7.Historian (finally, something we can agree on.) 8.Actor (now blend 7 and 8 together and we'll have a party) 9.Plasterer (so I'd get plastered professionally?) 10.Editor (only on LJ) 11.Corporate / Commercial Lawyer (no thanks. ) 12.Furniture Finisher (I would love to. Seriously.) 13.Sign Language Interpreter (the only signs I can interpret are rather unsavory) 14.Interpreter (once again... from what? ) 15.Comedian (only in my own mind.) 16.Critic (every day of my life) 17.Criminal Lawyer (oh yes.) 18.Magician (...insert caption here) 19.Dancer (only when I'm professionally plastered) 20.Model (ha...)

So recently, instead of sleeping I have been surfing the internet and listening to Loreena McKennitt. While I think that this happens to be a valuable use of my time, I am growing concerned that this sort of behavior will continue when classes begin in two days. Alas, I could keep up this vampiric schedule if only it were not for the 8:50 french class. For those of you with inquiring minds, my classes are as follows: French 202 (*sigh* more french...) History of Medieval Europe (hells yes.) Survey of US History (...something new and different for me.) Arc/Hist of Ancient Egypt (I hope female circumcision is omitted.) Intro to Minority Cultures (I thought that living in california made me exempt from this one.) And if my calculations are correct, it appears that I will be done with my undergrad degree in 4 semesters from today. That means I should be graduating in the spring of 2009. thank god. or satan. whomever at this time has placed the highest bid for my soul (can be found on ebay if you would like to put in your two cents). goodnight.

So yesterday was the 20th anniversary of my birth, and it was fun. The only problem is, I have to wait another year for a birthday. curses. per usual, I raked in the loot. some of the highlights included: coffeemaker that looks like a time machine, foxy skivvies, earrings, books, springy tank tops, and bare minerals makeup. looking at the record of my spoils, it is easy to tell that everyone I love knows me to be a girly, literate, caffine-dependant person. go me. in addition to being showered with gifts, erik's mom made me an awesome birthday dinner, that ended with the ever-orgasmic chocolate pecan pie. mmmm. There's leftovers, come on over. cheers all, from your friend who no longer belongs to the category "teenager"

we love easter. and not so much because of that jesus fellow, but because it means our birthday is a'coming! yeah, we know- it's a holiday celibrating the resurrection... but really we're just excited about our birthday. sorry jesus. other than that, have been having a riveting time down here at the front desk shooting the shit with my fave international student: Hasan the Saudi. he really doesn't get the whole easter concept, but I suppose he has an excuse, seeing as he is a muslim and as such doen't celebrate Peter Rabbit and His Chocolate Eggs. who has everything to do with an undead Christ, you know. ;) Also was greeted by Kyle: everyone's favorite compasionate conservative, who made Hasan (who happens to be a MUSLIM, for those of you just joining us) an easter basket. heh heh. all in all, a rather entertaining evening down here at the Reuter Hall Front Desk. how cool is it that we managed to write an entire entry utilizing the royal "we". this may very well become a habit.

last night involved splendid brain-rotting entertainment. I enlightened my wisconsoninan homies with a viewing of the Funnies-fucking-episode-of-Hercules and the Legendary Journeys ever. AJ was actually interesting in watching, as was Connie (though she had take a raincheck), and Abby finally drank the koolaid and sat down with us. We were later joined (then left, then rejoined)by the indomitable Tom who was only too pleased to partake in the immense dorkhood. Due to his utterly unnatural fondness of HatLJ, Tom may actually be my sibling. The fearsome foursome decided to move on to Robin Williams: Live on Broadway and cap off the evening with the last 20 minutes of Chamber of Secrets. all in all, an entertaining waste of an evening. capital.

*mumblemumble* I just spent half and hour writing a most excellent post for your reading pleasure. Unfortunately, something bad happened and the internet window shut. Fuck. and because I have been up for 19 hours as of now, you will get a brief summary of the astounding wit that was my deleted post. -back in sacramento, will hang with friends and troll for knock-off sunglasses in the old sac district. -airports suck -erik in south carolina, the 3hour time difference and 3 week separation is not that great. Do not want a bicoastal relationship unless I had a... -Private Jet and Pilot (like john travolta) though using his services would probably require my subsequent conversion to scientology and all the utter idiocy it produces. -If I were an alien, tom cruise would not be allowed on my UFO... and scientologists are fucking nuts. cheers all, happy new year I'm off to bed.

I didn't like my last layout... then I switched it several times, and went back to the same one. almost. Decided to simplify my colors until I could make up my frigging mind. In other news, out of the four classes I took last semester, I have received the grade of AB in three of them. and the last grade hasn't been posted yet. woot. here's to improving my floundering gpa. right now Bruce (that's erik's step-dad, for those of you not in the know) has selected out of 500 channels a motion picture entitled "Hard Bounty". I inquired as to whether the channel hosting this program is called "movies that neither cost to make, nor grossed over 50,000 bucks". This movie is a western (made in 1995, no less)and the only recognizable actor in it is Kelly LeBrock (of weird science and celebrity fit club fame) and she plays a prostitute. So far we are 45 minutes in, and the movie has no discernable plot... BUT it features lots of bare titties in the whorehouse, which is the main setting of the movie. what the fuck am I watching?
